ZOE Microbiome Ranking 2024

We have developed and released rankings of gut microbiome species associated with cardiometabolic health markers and dietary markers. These can be adopted by the academic research community to evaluate whether a given microbiome sample is characterised by more health-associated species or by species more typical of unfavorable diet and cardiometabolic conditions.

Publication Data Availability

We are committed to supporting researchers, and one way that we do this is by providing access to data which we have included in a published paper.

Each of our papers contains a data availability statement describing their specific situation.

For PREDICT 1, data is held by KCL Department of Twin Research & Genetic Epidemiology, and those requests should be sent to them.

For data held by ZOE itself, typically:

• Raw metagenomic samples are made freely available via the EBI, with accession numbers specified in each paper. Sex, age, BMI, country, and the quantitative taxonomic profiles are available for each sample within the curatedMetagenomicData package.

• Researchers interested in study data should submit a research request proposal that will be evaluated by a subpanel of the ZOE Scientific Advisory Board for their priority, relevance and in compliance with privacy and data protection regulations. We have meetings once per month with independent members to assess proposals. The data may be pseudonymised or otherwise redacted to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and other applicable data protection laws. Researchers will be required to enter into a GDPR data sharing agreement before data may be released. Access request proposals should be sent to data.papers@joinzoe.com
